The passage challenges the common perception that graffiti is solely a negative phenomenon associated with gangs and illegal activity. The author highlights the importance of understanding graffiti art and its cultural significance, especially among marginalized populations who may not have access to traditional art forms. The author also notes that major marketers have recognized the value of graffiti art in reaching a diverse customer base.
